Here are some tips on how you can work around the spring weather to help your lawn grow lush, green, and healthy! 

Watering During Periods of Drought

If you have a south-facing lawn, which receives a lot of sunlight, you'll definitely need to supplement your lawn’s natural water intake, especially during periods of drought (or no snow cover). In this case, you should follow a weekly watering regimen to avoid long-term damage to the crown – the growing point – of the grass plant. It’s best to water deeply, infrequently, and in the early morning when temperatures are cooler and the water will not evaporate.

Spring Cleanup

During a period when your lawn is free from snow cover, take the time to perform a spring cleanup. Use a leaf rake to clear debris from the surface of your lawn and to stimulate plant growth, essentially “waking up” your lawn for the growing season.

The First Mow of the Season

After your lawn is raked during your spring cleanup, you can perform the first mow of the season anytime your lawn is clear of snow. This will also help your lawn wake up and help kickstart the growing season.
